There's no compelling reason to invest in the 13700H unless Intel suddenly halts production of their 12th gen CPUs. Honestly, I struggle to understand why they even launched the 13th gen H series, along with the i3-i7 parts of the HX series, which are virtually equivalent to CPUs like the 12800HX, etc. We're seeing a lot of repackaging and rebranding as 'new' these days. The only real upgrade in the 13th gen is the i9 series, but given their sky-high price, we might as well act like they don't exist.

I prefer the Intel 12th Gen i7-12700H processor because there isn't much difference between the 12th and 13th Gen processors. The only distinction is the price, with the 13th Gen being more expensive, while the specs and performance are quite similar.

13th Generation Intel Core i7-13700H supports PCIe 5.0 and its boost speed is 5GHz, of course there is a big difference.

The 13th gen definitely looks like a bit of a disappointment. For someone comparing the 6800H though, it's not really an apples-to-apples comparison. The 6800H is more efficient, but more importantly its igpu is more than 2x more powerful using RDNA2. Intel makes sense if you want to squeak out 15-20% more CPU performance, but you'll do it at the penalty of power and have a crappy igpu.

When you buy a laptop with i7 12700h it will come with a dedicated GPU so no need to care about Igpu, igpu is important with series u because most of them come without a dedicated GPU

Mostafa, It's important, because there are laptops like Asus Rog Flow x13, where igpu is very important, and have also normal GPU.

Lmfaoooooo, wtf intel. What were you thinking? I would understand if they improved things like efficiency and have the same outputs. But the 12th gen is more efficient πŸ’€. I think intel is knowingly trying to sabotage this series to boost the new p series and u series.

More like their 13th gen is just so inefficient (relatively) that you can't see any performance improvement when power is as limited as it is in laptops. On the desktop, there is more of a different because power consumption increased. Also, the fact that the core count is identical didn't help. The 14th gen supposedly comes with massive efficiency improvements but only up to 6+8 (P and E cores) and a lower clock speed, so don't expect any performance improvements until the 15th gen releases.

I would definitely choose the 12th i7 mobile processor because the 13th gen just isn't that much improved over the 12th gen H series. Like the desktop i7-13700k has 4 more efficient cores 5MB more of cash and higher clock speeds which is an improvement over the 12700k. But on the other hand, it is a lot more difficult to improve the mobile cpu's because of the heat management, etc. I think that the best advancement in the intel H mobile cpu's was the switch from 11800H to 12700H where Intel introduced the P and E cores. For example, i7 12700H absolutely destroyed AMD 7 6800H in Peak performance.

if there's something new, why not?? the price still cost the same, and you get 15% more performance.
