Broke ppl are saying sd855 is better, compared to both the 888 is far ahead of the 855 I played skyline Nintendo switch games and other emulators,s and even pubs and cod it's far Better.

I own and mess around with many different devices. For day to day use we have been over buying performance for years now. In terms of both of these chips I'd probably go with the older SOC simply because the 888 has been horrendous with battery management. It can't control thermals and it is almost a pointless boost in performance if phone makers need to throttle the SOC out of the box.

It entirely depends on your usage. Why would people spend more money to upgrade from a medium/low spec device when all they do is make calls, read email and check the web on occasion. Any phone can run just about any mobile game because that is what they are designed for. If you want to test CPU and GPU prowess of any device, try to either emulate with dolphin or run test benches. Playing mobile games and judging performance by eye is not a good estimation at all. As for battery degradation. It depends on how the battery has been handled. Batteries made in the past 2-4 years are way better than the old batteries. Phones are also much better at charging the batteries at different speeds at different % charge, this has huge benefits to battery longevity. A phone I got for 2 years nearly has no battery degradation because it's been fast charged up to 90% for most of it's lifespan.

In terms of price, a phone with snapdragon 855 would be 350-450 usd which is insane, meanwhile for the sd 888 easily +700 usd, old flagship processors (around 1-2 years after being released) are extremely worth it, never buy midrange devices, just spend a little bit extra cash or save and you get 2.5-3x performance

In terms of performance it would be better, especially games but in CPU wise it will be on par I tested my 855 vs 732G with no animations and the difference was rarely visible and most likely depends on SSD speed. Even if you buy NEW sealed old flagship battery will be degraded and for used phone you need to replace it 100% that's added costs and you don't know the phone story... it may be repaired at best... less updates and so on...

There's the realme gt 5 though, which also is equipped with a snapdragon 888. Goes for ~$500 right now.
